How to Give Yourself Grace

How to Give Yourself Grace

The last few months of 2022 were hectic, to say the least.

I started graduate school which completely threw off my normal routine.

If you know anything about me, you know that following a normal schedule is especially important to me!

With the onset of this new endeavor, I was forced to reallocate my time, and it was exceedingly difficult.

I struggled to be available for my ministry, my personal life, and even my relationship with God.

In this time of upheaval, I had to hold onto God’s amazing grace while learning what it meant to give myself grace as well.

Grace can be defined as pardon, mercy, or the undeserved power from God through which we are saved from sin.

Mountains with text that says, “Grace: A pardon, mercy, or the undeserved power from God through which we are saved from sin.”

One of my favorite verses comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9.

It says,

“But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

The Lord delivered this message to Paul after he begged God to remove the thorn from his flesh.

How often do we plead with God for him to take away our hardships, stresses, and pain?

This verse reminds me, however, that even in those times of trial, God’s power and grace is what we should be seeking.

In these moments, we can give ourselves grace by admitting our weaknesses and realizing that, when things become too hard, the best thing we can do is take a step back and rest in God’s strength.

We can lean on God’s amazing grace and power by allowing Him to work through our weaknesses to strengthen us, teach us, and allow His light to shine through those times of darkness.

How are you accepting God’s grace and giving yourself grace today?
