28 Things God Has Taught Me in 28 Years

28 Things God Has Taught Me in 28 Years

Today is my birthday, and I cannot believe that I am already 28-years-old!

I refuse to feel sad about how the years have flown by, though. Instead, I will reflect on how thankful I am for each exciting experience and hard lesson the past 28 years have brought.

I will celebrate how each one has helped me to grow, learn, and strengthen my faith!

Here is a list of 28 things that God has taught me over the years about myself, about others, about life, and about God himself. I hope you enjoy!

About Myself:

1. Grace is the hardest to give to myself.

2. I am not defined by my accomplishments, failures, or my past.

3. I am a morning person through and through.

4. I am a chronic over-planner, and, yes, there is such a thing as being too prepared!

5. I have what others call a “dry” sense of humor, and I’m still not sure if this is a good thing.

6. Laughing at myself is necessary for my sanity.

7. As I have gotten older, a solid daily routine is also necessary for my sanity.

About Others:

8. When it comes to friends, quality truly is better than quantity.

9. Mothers really do know best.

10. It is okay to ask for help from someone else (this lesson is still trying to fully sink in).

11. The majority of people are good and want to help others, but a lot of them just don’t know exactly what to do or say.

12. Dogs are angels on earth, and we do not deserve them.

13. We are often the most impatient and unkind to the ones who are always there for us.

14. Whether they realize it or not, girls often marry someone just like their dad.

About Life:

15. Life really can completely change in an instant.

16. You are never too old for anything Disney-related.

17. Constantly having a trip to plan, whether big or small, is the most fun way to live life.

18. There is no shame in going to bed before it is dark outside.

19. Life will present you with obstacles, and it is up to you how to react to them, face them, and navigate around them.

20. There is nothing wrong with taking a different path from those around you or one that veers from your original plans,  as long as you are letting God guide your steps.

21. Many disagreements could be solved by stepping into the shoes of the other person.

About God:

22. He can deliver beautiful blessings through even the hardest of situations.

23. Even when everything else disappears, He always remains.

24. Your strength in hardships depends on how much you trust God.

25. God does not call those who are equipped, He equips those who He calls (a friend told me this, and I have seen it prove to be true time and time again).

26. He definitely gives you more than you can handle at times, but only so you will learn to fully rely on Him.

27. He is the best friend, listener, counselor, and comforter that we could ever find.

28. When He is our number one priority, everything else seems to fall into place.
